Ameri and I had been dating since college and we joined the same company. It’s a black (toxic) workplace, but with Ameri by my side I can keep going. We were living positively, saying we’d get married once our lives stabilized. But— I heard bad rumors about a power-harassment boss with a two-block haircut and a gorilla-like face who supposedly gives off strong gay vibes.
