Marina likes mahjong. Not limited to mahjong, she enjoys gambling in general — pachinko, slot machines, horse racing, and the like — and it has become part of her life. She first started playing mahjong in college when she and her friends began playing at a nabe (hotpot) party, and she quickly got hooked. After graduating, she became a part-time worker without any particular goals; if anything, she thought she might like to become a professional mahjong player.
