About this work

We, a documentary production crew, closely followed a family-run sentō. The father faithfully preserves a bath steeped in Showa-era atmosphere, and the daughter, working as a “yuna” (female bath attendant), routinely strips in front of customers and performs body-washing. There was the old-fashioned bathhouse we remember. These acts were never for lewd purposes but were measures the parent and child devised to clean bathers’ bodies: oil rubbing using the skin, oral suction of a soiled glans, and washing the shaft with the vagina. Father and daughter — we present their days of two-person effort, passion, customs, and challenges.
