Shinji visits the home of his father Ryuichi—who runs a company in Tokyo and is living away from the family for work—while on break. Surprised by his father’s impeccably tidy room, he soon sees Ryuichi bring home Hikari, who used to work at the company reception. Watching her prepare a meal with practiced ease, Shinji realizes her relationship with his father. Later, when Hikari, unable to celebrate Ryuichi’s birthday and growing increasingly lonely, Shinji gently speaks to her; she responds by entrusting her body to him, saying, “Hold me.”
