In this hospital, where both doctors and nurses are mostly mature women, chronic staff shortages force them to give up days off and work long hours, so stress keeps building. Perhaps because of that, the 'angels in white'—who should be rescuers of the weak, i.e. the sick—relieve their work stress by bullying, tormenting, and ridiculing patients.
